The coat rack has all of the basics needed to be really good -- except clear, useful directions. Its main pieces are metal and are strong. Mine arrived with enough parts, and many of those parts, especially the three sections of the main pole, fit together easily. Certainly the final rack seems to be holding up to the weight of a number of winter coats. (I've tested it with a total of two heavy weather-beaters and four lighter jackets hung around its branches. I bought the clothes rack because my town house's downstairs closet gets very musty, someone having decided it didn't need a vent or air conditioning outlet.)

Here is the problem. The directions consist of a single page giving a schematic of the coat rack. The schematic is okay, although it is incorrect in one detail. The rack includes many short screws and three slightly longer ones. The schematic shows that the three longer screws fit into the top of each of legs (which are in turn made of two sections, the middle one being fastened to the main pole).

FOR ME, AT LEAST, EACH LEG WAS BEST ASSEMBLED BY FASTENING THE UPPER HALF TO THE MAIN POLE WITH ONE OF THE SLIGHTLY LONGER SCREWS.

In working on the legs, it was useful to allow a little looseness in the screws, since the completed legs become a little springy when one tries to fasten the upper end to the hoop.

The top part of the rack went together easily. One needs simply to be careful to pop the rounded plastic plugs into the correct tubes, as shows on the schematic. Same for the bottom; otherwise the rack will rock.

Sturdy rack, very easy to assemble. Took me literally five minutes. Very slight tilt to the middle bar at first, but with a re-screw it's fine. Well-centered and heavy, seems durable. Happy with my purchase.

We wanted something that was functional but different than a conventional coat stand. The product arrived very well packaged with additional cardboard reinforcements and almost completely wrapped in packing tape. At first I was annoyed with what I felt was overkill on the packing tape, but I guess its better to go overboard than to have the product arrive falling apart. Once I got into the box, it took me about 5 minutes to put it together. Instructions were very simple to figure out and as soon as it was up we put all the coats (6 winter coats and a couple of raincoats) on it that we normally will have on it during the coldest winter months and so far so good. All in all a very good value for an aesthetically and functionally pleasing coat rack.

I bought this item for our breakroom so employees that use the patio have a place to hang their coats. Our Maintenance Tech assembled it for me. It took about 20 minutes. All the parts were included and it went together easily. The base is cast iron and the rack is pretty sturdy but maintenance glued the hooks in to add more stabability since it will be used by 15 people. Lots of room for many hats and coats. It's a great rack for the price. I'd denfinately by this item again if we need another.

Excellent coat rack, its just what I'd hoped for. It is light weight but well balanced. You can put multiple coats on one side and it will not tip over. There are little adjuster screws on the base so you can make sure all four feet are in solid contact with the floor. It is a good size and look good.
Assembly was easy and took only minutes and the only tool was the allen wrench that came with it. There are bolts of different sizes so make sure you look at all of them before you use them.

I just received my order, and it took less than 5 minutes to open the package and have the hall tree assembled and ready to use. It is a very nice looking espresso color wooden tree with 6 arms at various levels for holding coats, purses, etc. The 3 legs provide a very stable base and I purposely placed 3 very large and very heavy coats on one side without the tree even beginning to tip over. I would highly recommend this product to anyone!

Functional, fits my needs for it. I have read reviews regarding problems with this. I, too, found the base to be wobbly, at first. Then I removed the screw for the base (which I installed originally) & re-installed it. This time, it worked correctly and the base is no longer wobbly.

Cons: Assembly directions are pathetic. However, if you can work jigsaw puzzles, you can figure the assembly out. I did have to re-do several of the screws to get it to fit correctly (a pain but worth it in the long run). One of the arms just will not fit correctly so I will put only light weight clothes upon it (it does not detract from the overall form nor appearance). I am a 62 year old woman. If I can assemble it, so can you.

Description: As advertised, black finish metal, etc (it is not wrought iron). This is a fairly light-weight piece of furniture but the base is stable so will hold a lot of clothes/coats (remember to balance the coats to prevent tipping over). The poles (upright) & arms are hollow but somewhat large and sturdy. The tips (which you insert into arms) are smooth & rounded. This is a purely functional piece of furniture -- not attractive -- but holds a lot of clothes/coats. It stays in my bedroom. I don't have tipping over problems.

I place purses, coats, cameras, a variety of clothes (caps, scarves, slacks, sweaters, etc) upon it -- anything which hangs. I even have some computer cords (hdmi, etc -- things I use frequently) hanging on it. First thing that should be noted on this product is that it about 1/4 of the price of similar size coat racks. It holds a ton, but is somewhat wobbly. I had to put a little felt chair leg pad under one leg because it doesn't sit even on the ground. However, with the money I saved, I actually bought two of these (one for out in the entryway and another tucked away for extra coats, guests, etc.

It is stylish and actually can be used at full height, or for the sake of our kids, it can be assembled without the center section, making the total height roughly 4 1/2 feet tall - perfect for all of our kids and their friends. If you're looking for something more modern and unique, this is the way to go. It blends well, and it painted nicely. My kids rub zippers on it and my cats think it's a scratching post, and yet it has not damaged the paint (nor has it fallen over).

You could certainly spend over $100 and get a better product, but if you need something easy to assemble with plenty of space and hooks, this is definitely the way to go.

I have been using this for 5 months to hang heavy winter coats. It does what it's supposed to do. No problems whatsoever. The build quality is sufficient for its purpose - it's light yet sturdy. The only thing that will make this coat rack tip over is if you hang 4 heavy coats on just one side, which obviously it not a smart thing to do. Highly recommended.
